Strung Out is the string quartet I formed back in 1990 with my sister Janet Holborow. Our mission was to push the envelope and venture outside traditional string music and explore what we could achieve with the timbre of the string quartet. The quartet has brought a fresh perspective to a variety of genres arranging and performing since their formation, joining with Jackie Clarke in 1996 to bring their unique twist to music not usually associated with strings. They have performed at the NZ Festival of Arts and around the country. With members Ana Henderson and Sharon Callaghan, they recently reunited and recorded one of their favorite covers, Be Mine Tonight, by The Dudes, written by Dave Dobbyn for the RNZ kiwi song cover competition.
